FREDERICK WALTER YAEGER
Frederick Walter Yaeger passed into eternity on May 21, 2026, at the age of 95.
Fred was born on November 18, 1930, at the St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, Canada. He was the only son of Frederick and Elizabeth Yaeger, first generation German immigrants from Russia and Austria. He grew up in Manitoba, primarily Winnipeg (St. Vital) and Headingley. After the loss of his father in 1949, he took on the role of provider to his mother (pre-deceased 2001) and younger sister, Theresa.
In 1951 Fred met the love of his life, Gladys Einarson (deceased March 21, 2021). They were married on April 25, 1954. During their 66 years of marriage, they were blessed with three children: Susan, Frederick (Ingrid) and William (Carmen). Grandchildren and great grandchildren: Christina Ayalew (Matthew, Jordyn, Maximus and Miles), Alexandria Tulloch (Ryan, Aria, Lucia and Axel), Peter (Shay), Erica (Josh and Reyen), Nathaniel (Emma), Elyssia, Tanya, Keith (Madison and Phoebe) and Natalie.
Fred was a dedicated family man who lived in service to others. While working full-time at Great West Life (34 years) he was a pioneer in developing computer systems. In addition to caring for family, he served as a minister in the New Apostolic Church for more than 35 years.
He enjoyed traveling, gardening, woodworking and cars. He could usually be found tinkering around fixing something.
He will be remembered as an honest upright man, whose strong belief in God and doing what's right led him to assist many. He was always ready to give someone a hand.
We are thankful to all the caregivers at Meadowood Manor. Even if he could not express it, we know he loved visits from all who came. Thank you!
There will be a celebration of life at 11:00 a.m. on June 27, 2026, at the New Apostolic Church, 1755 Taylor Avenue, Winnipeg, MB.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dad can be made to the Alzheimer's Society or New Apostolic Church (online at www.naccanada.org) or another charity of your choice.
