It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Orest John Nowosad, who passed away peacefully on June 18, 2026, at the age of 80.
Born on July 6, 1945, Orest lived a life marked by hard work, resilience, kindness, and dedication to his family. He touched the lives of many through his generosity, and unwavering willingness to help others whenever they were in need.
Orest passed away at the Health Sciences Centre Intensive Care Unit in Winnipeg, Manitoba, following injuries sustained in a severe burn accident. Throughout his final days, he was cared for with compassion and dignity by the dedicated medical team, whose kindness and professionalism brought comfort to both Orest and his loved ones.
Orest will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Sylvia; his son, Trenton, and daughter-in-law, Faye, and their children, Cole, Shelby, and Devryn; and his daughter, Dr. Heather Nowosad, and son-in-law, Greg Zulyniak, and their daughters, Jessie and Audrey. He is also survived by his sister, Leona Mackedenski, and her husband, Lorne, as well as his brother, Melvin. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Health Sciences Centre ICU for their exceptional care and support during this difficult time. They would also like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Mandeep Dhaliwal for the dedicated care, guidance, and compassion he provided to Orest over many years. His commitment to Orest’s health and well-being was deeply valued and will always be remembered with gratitude.
