With sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Roger Eric James, beloved son of Dr. June James and the late Dr. Ralph James, on June 12, 2026.
He is mourned by his brother Robert (Megan) and was the cherished uncle of Alexander, Maxwell, and Nicola. Roger will be fondly remembered by his aunts, Ynolde and Cheryl, his uncle Rawle, many cousins, and friends, especially Gloria Cheeseman, the family of the late Dalip and Pearl Singh, and Alvin and Ranee Alleyne.
Roger attended United Collegiate and later Red River College, where he studied computer programming. An avid steel pan percussionist, he played with the Steel Expressions Orchestra during Caripeg and Folklorama in Winnipeg, and on the road in Edmonton. His love of Trinidad and its music was something he proudly shared with many friends and followers on Facebook.
Roger was also an avid sports fan who enjoyed both football (soccer) and the NFL. He was a devoted supporter of the Denver Broncos and took great pleasure in good-naturedly ribbing his brother whenever his team came out on top.
A funeral service will be held and livestreamed from Saint Paul’s Anglican Church, Fort Garry on Saturday, July 4th at 10:00 a.m. The link to the service is:
