With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Joan Stevenson on June 23, 2026, at the age of 80. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Clark Brownlee; her sister, Marilyn Hill (Bob); and her children Dale (Janet), Don (Renice), and Lindsay (Ian). Her marriage to Clark brought together two families, with his children, Ross (Heidi), Kevin (Myra), and Meredith. She was a proud grandmother to Meghan, Ian, Corbin, Ellis, and Lily, and will be fondly remembered by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Joan was predeceased by her parents, Melvin and Elsie Fitzsimmons, her sister Marjorie Wills, and her brothers, Robert (Sharon) and Don Fitzsimmons. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Children's Literacy Foundation, a cause close to Joan's heart.
There will be a funeral for Joan on June 30, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Andrew's United Church, 255 Oak Street.

Joan will be remembered as a kind and loving lady. Her warm and gentle ways and her ability to communicate what was in her heart will be treasured family, her friends, and the students that she taught. I was privileged to know Joan long ago and share camping trips and parenting experiences with her. She was a quiet, wise and generous woman and I will always remember her with love.
