Lindy passed away peacefully on May 23, 2026 at Hospice House, 2035 Ethel Street, Kelowna, British Columbia. Lindy was born to her late parents, Anthony and Alexandria Sysiuk, in Winnipeg on June 24, 1942 and lived on Selkirk Avenue until she moved to the Oshawa, Ontario area after her 18th birthday. She moved back to Winnipeg in 1984 where she met and is survived by her husband, Kaz Crischuk (neé Kryszczuk).
She leaves behind her daughter Tammy Demarski (David Eardley), Angus, Ontario, sons, Jeffrey Bestwick, Huntsville, Ontario and Todd McIntyre, West Kelowna, BC, her granddaughters, Theresa Nagy, Edmonton, and Leah Villaba, (Edwardo), Barrie, her great-grandsons, Sebastian and Frederik Garskey, and Uncle Joseph and Aunt Mary, Merryville, BC and numerous cousins and dear friends in Winnipeg.
Lindy had suffered many years of pain and heartaches, while being confined to a wheelchair for the past 20 years. To all her family and friends in Winnipeg and Kelowna, she is remembered as a kind and cheerful woman who was always willing to help in any way she could. Besides her husband, Lindy loved flowers and gardening. For some time, she was a floral designer and wedding consultant in Ontario, and upon returning to Winnipeg she worked at Highway Florists. She continued her passion in Kelowna during her ambulatory years. Lindy loved her vegetable garden and enjoyed preserving tomatoes and peaches each year.
We wish to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff who looked after her over the years at Kelowna General Hospital, May Bennet Clinic, Hospice House and especially her family doctors, the late Gregory McCloskey and Nathan Strauss and her urologist, Jennifer Locke.
Lindy’s interment of her ashes will be on August 14, 2026 at 2:30 p.m. at Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery, 1991 Bernard Ave., Kelowna, BC and her memorial will be at our home at 685 Josselyn Court, Kelowna, BC V1X 5Y9 on August 15, 2026.
To all us mortals, we are born, live and pass on for a time which appears long during our stay but oh, so brief, upon reflection as our bodies give up the ghost and return to Source. For those who made a difference in the lives they have touched during that voyage, they will be remembered fondly. Lindy was one of those. She will be sadly missed.
