It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Stanley Chase on July 8, 2026, at the age of 74.
Stanley was born in Ashern, Manitoba on March 8, 1952, to his mother Patricia Podlaski (nee Chase). From the very beginning, he was surrounded by the love and support of his grandmother Bertha Chase, grandfather Nathanial Chase, aunts Vi and Janice, and uncles Art and Nick. A few years later, his stepfather, Joseph Podlaski, entered his life and loved and raised Stanley as his own.
He was the eldest of his siblings: Joanne, Elaine, Sandy, Rick, Glen, and Benny. He was predeceased by his parents, Patricia and Joseph, his beloved grandparents, and two of his younger brothers Glen and Rick.
In 1971, Stanley moved to Winnipeg and started his first job at Macleod's, where he spent the entirety of his career. He was with the company through many name changes until 2017 when the company closed and he was forced to retire. In 1977, Stanley married the love of his life, Angela Chase. Together they welcomed three beautiful children: Leanne (Robert), Linden, and Tyne (Justin). Sadly, his marriage to Angela ended in 2001 but thankfully he was able to spend his later years living the 'bachelor life' which allowed him to fish anytime he wanted.
Stanley loved fishing, hunting, and spending time with those he cared about most. Whether casting a line at sunrise, sharing stories around a campfire, a day spent playing cribbage, or enjoying time with family, he was happiest outdoors and surrounded by loved ones.
In 2020, Stanley moved to Riverton to live with his brother, Benny, along with his sister-in-law, Eva and nephew, Jared. In Riverton, he was able to enjoy retirement doing what he loved most—fishing whenever he pleased.
Becoming a grandfather brought him immeasurable happiness, and he treasured every moment with his beloved grandchildren, Trish and Will, who entered his life in 2019 and 2023. They quickly became two of his favourite people.
Later in life, Stanley was grateful to discover his bonus family and the extended family that came along with that connection. He welcomed eight half-siblings into his life: Dale, Steven, Dusty, Tim, Jack, Eugene, Norman, and Shelley. Sadly, he was already predeceased by his biological father Clifford, as well as his half-brother Charles.
Stanley also leaves behind countless aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends—far too many to name individually—each of whom held a special place in his life.
In his final years, Stanley faced declining health but refused to go down without a fight. He returned to Winnipeg to be closer to his daughters, whose love and support meant the world to him. Our family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who took the time to visit him, share a conversation, or simply brighten his day. Your kindness and companionship brought him great comfort and will never be forgotten. We would also like to extend a special thank you to home care and the staff at Lions Manor for making his last two and a half years a little easier on him.
A funeral service will be held at a later date.
Stanley will be remembered for his love of family, his desire to go fishing, his quiet resilience, and his unmistakable sense of humor. He rarely said goodbye. Instead, he would smile and say, "See you later... maybe."
Though he is deeply missed, those words now remind us that love and memories never truly leave us.
