It is with profound sadness we announce the sudden death of David George in Fiji on June 15, 2026.
Dave was predeceased by his sister Carol and husband Jack, his brothers, Edward (Ted) and Douglas.
Dave will be deeply missed by his two sons, David (Joyce) and Joseph and their families; stepdaughter Robyn Enns and her children, sisters, Susan George and Linda O’Dell (Clint) and many nephews, nieces and friends.
Dave was born and raised in Winnipeg and at a young age he moved to Red Lake, ON and started a lifelong love and career in mining. He was very knowledgeable about many aspects of mining, and his skills were sought after across Canada and as far away as Fiji.
Dave loved sports, especially the Bombers, Jets and car racing, but his passion was fishing. Anyone who knew Dave probably spent time with him either catching fish or having one of his famous fish fry’s.
Dave was a kind and generous man, loved sharing his knowledge of outdoor life and mining. In later years Dave spent time building his houseboat and his home in Maple Beach, MB.
The past three years Dave worked in Fiji as a mine maintenance supervisor, embracing the people and culture. Many he considered his adopted family. He also worked on his bucket list travelling to Australia, New Zealand and the great wall of China.
Our family is very grateful to Lion One Mining for their kindness arranging a service, cremation and repatriation.
A Celebration of Life will be held at St. George’s Wakefield Church, Clandeboye, MB on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at 1:00 p.m.
