JOAN KOLBAUER
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joan Kolbauer at St. Boniface Hospital on Tuesday, July 14 at the age of 83 years, surrounded by family.
She is survived by her children Laura Lynn (Peter), Jason (Tracey), Kristi, and her precious grandchildren Zoe, Pierce, Ryann, Emma, and Logan. She is also survived by her brothers Lyn and Jack Giles and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Ronald and her parents John and Elizabeth Giles. Joan will be missed by her many friends whom she loved liked sisters.
We wish to express our thanks to the staff at Riverwood Square and St. Boniface Hospital who looked after our Mom with great care.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be announced at a later date. Donations in Joan’s memory can be made to the Manitoba Down Syndrome Society.

I met your precious mother over 30 years ago online via Canadian Down Syndrome Assoc. and have been in contact with her since. Former Wpg living in Israel my youngest was born with DS and we shared pics of my son Zvi and your precious Zoe over the years. We also discovered that we had other things in common as my late sister was also at WestK at the same time and mom remembered her and found her name on the list of the reunion years ago. I had the pleasure of meeting Joan and Ron when we became friends in our apartment block. Joan and I hit it off as if we had been friends for years. Joan was a extremely bright spot in my life. We had many visits and shared many family stories. I was lucky enough to even meet her children and grandchildren. It was clear to see how devoted she was to her family. Her eyes always were brighter when her family came for a visit. This was one very special lady and I am lucky we had a friendship. My deepest condolences to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Joan may you rest in peace and always be in the light.
