MARJORIE ELEANOR MEIER

(nee TKACH)

It is with deep sadness and immense gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of Marjorie Eleanor Meier (née Tkach) on July 7, 2026, at the age of 90, at Selkirk Regional Health Centre, with her children, Kurt and Melanie, by her side.

Born on May 30, 1936, in Fraserwood, Manitoba, Marge built a life centred on faith, family, and caring for others. She worked as an office manager at Central Sportswear, where she was proud to be part of the team that produced the iconic Hudson’s Bay parkas. While she valued her career, her greatest pride was the home she created and the family she raised.

A devoted member of Grace Lutheran Church in Beausejour, her faith guided her throughout life. She loved entertaining family and friends, knitting, curling, and card games. Feeding those she loved warmed her heart and brought family and friends together, and no one ever left her home without a cup of coffee or hearing, “Eat! Eat!”

“Baba” will be remembered for her kind heart, fierce love of family, unwavering generosity, and her gift for making everyone feel welcome. She believed every day was a gift from God and found joy in life’s simple blessings — sunshine, birds, laughter, and time spent with those she loved. Warmth, kindness, and unconditional love were her hallmarks.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Ken; her parents, Daniel and Mary Tkach; and her brothers, Adam and Mitchell Tkach. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Kurt Meier (Adrienne); her daughter, Melanie Williamson (Paul); and her “favourite” granddaughter, Katelyn Williamson (Chad), who was the pride and joy of her life.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful team at Selkirk Regional Health Centre for the compassionate care and kindness they provided to Marge and her family.

A funeral will be held Tuesday, July 21, 2026, 1:00 p.m. at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 401 Kildare Avenue W. The service will be officiated by her beloved pastor, Harold Borchardt.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I always loved visiting with Marge Meier when she would come to visit her brother, my "Gigi" Mitchell in Alberta. Hearing them converse together gave me an insight into both of their wonderful characters. Whether when visiting here or in Manitoba, I will cherish the memories I got to create by knowing her. All my love qnd condolences to her immediate family, Kurt, Melanie, and Katelyn. - Posted by: Daniel M. Tkach (Grand-Nephew) on: Jul 20, 2026
