ROY ALLEN WIEBE
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Roy Allen Wiebe, on July 17, 2026;
after a six-week crisis with cancer. He left the Christmas tree lights on from December to April indicating something was amiss.
He will be remembered and forever loved by his immediate family Brenda and Kitkats, Elli, Mama, Frankie and Norma.
Roy was born on January 18, 1954, on his mother’s birthday (Helen). He developed most of his aptitude by admiring his dad (Peter Wiebe), who drove truck for Reimer and was a carpenter. His sister Doreen chose his name. The other siblings were Harry, Don and Brian. Brian and Roy were close in age, so they shared many adventures.
His childhood home was in Gretna, Manitoba where baseball, curling and horses was a central activity. He loved life and had no regrets except for not trying out for the Goldeyes when asked.
He trained horses for barrel racing in the local fair, was on a curling team - Manitoba that was cleaning up in the ‘70’s. He went with his buddies to the Annual International Golf Tournament for several years in the ’90’s.
Roy came to Gimli in August 2012 and worked for Home Hardware and KC Enterprises before retiring. Before that he was in Winnipeg for most of his working life, although he drove mail truck to Thunder Bay, Ontario and as a roofing contractor roofed cottages. For over twenty-five years he was Wiebe Roofing.
A celebration of life, and a come and go coffee will be held at Minerva Hall from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., August 14, 2026, on HWY 8, one mile before Gimli Rd.
His family would like to thank the people at the Gimli Community Health Centre for their care and expertise.
