We are grateful for the long and beautiful life of Dorothy Wazney who passed away peacefully on July 22, 2026, at Donwood Manor Personal Care Home at the age of 91. While we are deeply saddened by her passing, we rejoice and find comfort in knowing that she is now at peace, free from the burden of dementia.
Dorothy was born on August 30, 1934, to John and Frances Petrasko. She grew up in Pineridge as one of twelve children.
Dorothy shared 71 years of marriage with her husband Casmer Wazney.
Together, they built a life, rooted in love and hard work. They made their home in Highland Glen where they started market gardening and eventually had a home-based retail greenhouse. Dorothy took great pride in her flowers and her beautifully maintained yard. Through determination, countless hours of hard work and a shared dream they built a wonderful life for their family.
Casmer and Dorothy retired from the homestead in 2005 and moved into East St. Paul (Country Villas). They enjoyed golfing at Elmhurst Golf and Country Club and playing cards at East St. Paul Community Club.
Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband of 71 years, Casmer; her daughter Charlotte Zaborniak (Ron); her son, Ken (Pamela); her cherished grandchildren and beloved great-grandchildren. She is also lovingly remembered by her sisters Shirley, Gloria, Marianne, brothers Ed, John and their families.
In 2023 Dorothy moved to Donwood Personal Care Home where she received exceptional care, dignity, and kindness. Special thanks to Rosa, Tania and Chaplain Conrad Dueck for their care.
Cremation has taken place and in keeping with Dorothy's wishes, a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
