Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONALD JAMES IRWIN
Don's family is sad to announce his passing just four days before his birthday. Our, gramps, father, brother, uncle and friend will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his daughter Ashley (John); granddaughter Georgia; son Brandon; brother Bob (Marg); sister Judith (Richard); nephews, Stephen (Emily), David (Katie) and Alexander (Ariane); niece Irene (Dan); and several great-nieces and nephews.
Don was predeceased by his parents, Robert James and Elizabeth Muriel and by his sister Pamela Joan.
Don grew up in Winnipeg and loved talking about his next adventurous trip. He had explored many places in his lifetime including India, Argentina, Chile, England, Scotland, Ireland and many other warm Caribbean destinations. Nothing held his heart more than his time spent working in the northern wilderness. He spent many happy years there acting as a fishing guide and managing fishing lodges in the Northwest Territories.
In Western Canada, Don worked in the auto service industry for 15 years and later for the federal government. He also enjoyed spending time with friends, Darrell, Bob and Blair, people he'd known for over 68 years. A special thank you to them for giving him the best friendships anyone could ask for.
Of his granddaughter, Georgia, he would say "I've fallen in love again".
Happy Birthday to Don who would have been 69 today.
Donations may be made in Don's name to Variety Manitoba for their Camp Brereton program where he volunteered. The program ensures that kids will have an opportunity to experience nature and the great outdoors. www.varietymanitoba.com.
