It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Origène Fernand Fillion. He was the dearly beloved husband of Marie-Lourdes Fillion (nee Robin), with whom he shared 72 wonderful years of marriage. He leaves behind his six children, Gilles Fillion (Micheline), Monique Fillion (Jean-Vianney Auclair), Christiane LaFleche (Charles), Gisele Mousseau, Real Fillion (Annie) and Gabriel Fillion (Myriam) as well as 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. He was a devoted husband and father, and we will miss his passion, his laughter and his love of life.
Origène will be remembered as an educational pioneer for the Franco-Manitoban community. Deeply committed to his French culture and heritage he played an instrumental role in the establishment of francophone schools in Manitoba, the Bureau de l'éducation française and L'Institut pédagogique de l'Université de Saint-Boniface.
A memorial celebration will be held on August 19, at 10 am, viewing at 9 am, at St. Martyrs-des-canadiens, 289 Dussault Avenue.
