LINDA MARGARET MORTIMORE

January 8,1962 - July 4, 2026

It is with sadness we announce the passing of our dear Linda after a brief battle with cancer.

Linda leaves behind her loving husband of 26 years, Donald; their son, Josh (Freedom) granddaughters, Nevaeh and Orenda; son, Alex (Rana) grandson Leon; son, Mark Nelson; Don's son, Justin Mortimore, his sons Mason and Lucas. Linda's sister Sandra (Yiannis), and niece Irini; brother, Russ (Carol) and nephew Reese; cousin, Ronda (Gord), daughter Megan and granddaughter Sierra Mortimore (late Kyle Mortimore), son to Don and Kim.

Linda is also mourned by Don’s family; mother, Elsie, brother Robert, sister Gail; Gail’s son, Garrett (Eleanor) children Hannah, Taylor; daughter, Gillian (Eric) her children Hudson, Colby, Corbin; sister, Janet, daughters, Miranda, Stephanie (Marlee) and sister Carol (Robert).

Linda was predeceased by her mother, Valerie, father Bill, Aunt Meryle, stepson, Kyle Mortimore.

Linda was employed at Canada Post for 37 years which she always described by her as her "happy place". As a letter carrier she made many friends and acquaintances on her routes. Linda started her career with Canada Post at the main plant, became a letter carrier out of the Church Street Depot, and eventually moved back indoors, working out of both the Church Street and McDermott Depots. She would always affectionately call her fellow workers here "Peeps". As a tribute to Linda her colleagues held a moment of silence on her passing July 6 at her depot.

Linda grew up on Maywood Road, and to this day, has maintained friendships with some of the old neighbors. She was proud of herself in the role of a mother and there wasn’t a day that went by where she was not in contact with her boys. She was proud of their accomplishments and upset she would not be here to continue watching them. Linda was thrilled to be a grandmother and was looking forward to the birth of her upcoming twin granddaughters.

Linda loved vacationing to destinations like Toronto to visit Mark, Greece to visit Sandy, and BC to visit Ronda. She loved her Mexican vacations with Bea, Marie and Liz. She missed her trip to Mexico this winter because of her cancer diagnosis.

Linda also loved animals, never having less than two dogs at one time in the household. Linda would go with Bea, her close friend and confident, shopping, and to garage sales. Linda made a point of making sure the entire family was together for Christmas. The family is grateful to have had a reunion last June, unaware a year later she would be gone.

Linda was diagnosed in early March 2026 yet worked until the day before her first treatment. Her doctor then gently suggested she quit work. She was filled with disbelief and disappointment, as her life she loved was abruptly changing. She always hoped the treatments would stop the cancer, as her plan was to return to work. When Linda was sick, Don took her to appointments, made sure she was comfortable at home and when in hospital was there all the time. Mark spent many a night in the hospital helping his mom and cousin Ronda made two trips in to be with her, constantly at her side.

Linda, Don and families wish to thank the following in her cancer journey; CancerCare Manitoba, Dr. Andrew Maksymiuk, Dr. Amit Chowdhury and nurse Jamie, as well as all homecare staff. Thank you to Myron May, for his years of loyal friendship. Thank you to her Canada Post family, she was ever so grateful for your endless support, and for organizing the fundraiser for her. To Marianne, Dean and so many other Canada Post employees for their hospital visits and timely calls, and to all of the many good friends who took their time to check on Linda.

Linda has now moved from the physical world to the spiritual world where she will be reunited with her mother Val and renew their special bond.

In keeping with Linda’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a celebration of her life will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., in Holy Family Church, 778 Archibald St. Please join the family to celebrate Linda’s life.
