JOHN LACHLAN NORTON MCLEOD
Thig crìoch air an t-saoghal ach mairidh gaol is ceòl.
Seventeen years later, I remember your mischief, your mind, and your many talents. Your mornings with the Globe and Mail. The tall man reaching down to hold my hand. I wish I could ask you to do my taxes and correct my grammar. I wish we could scan your slides together. And I wish I could remember your voice. But I put on your CDs and records — Aretha Franklin, the Beach Boys, Dobie Gray, Buddy Holly, K.D. Lang, Nat King Cole — and for a few minutes, I do remember.
With love from your daughter, son, sisters, friends,
and your beautiful, late wife.
We see the two of you together now.
