ROBERTA LENORE MARTIN
It is with deep sadness that the family of Roberta Martin announce her peaceful passing on July 31, 2026, at the age of 95.
Mom was born on June 13, 1931, the only child to Eva and James Stuart. Mom attended school in Selkirk and graduated from nursing at the Winnipeg General in the class of 1952B. She married our dad, Ralph on May 30, 1953, and together they raised six children on the Martin family farm in East Selkirk. Although Mom did not continue with her career in nursing, she kept meticulous financial records of Martin Farms Ltd. Mom also served on the vestry of Christ Church, the Selkirk and District Hospital Board and as a councillor for Ward 4 in the RM of St. Clements.
Mom was very dedicated to her family and showed incredible strength in the untimely passing of our dad. Mom and Dad spent years travelling to Hawaii, cruising the Caribbean, touring Europe, and the southern USA. After Dad’s tragic demise, Mom spent more time travelling with friends and family.
Mom was predeceased by her husband Ralph, parents James and Eva Stuart, her in-laws James and Florence Martin, her granddaughter, Carolyn Veitch-Rakowski, her brothers-in-law Wilfred and Lloyd Martin and most recently her sister-in-law Lois Martin of Regina.
She will be fondly remembered by her six children and spouses, Maureen (Adrian) de Boer, Dianne (Ken) Veitch, Jim (Janet) Martin, Gerry (Kelly) Martin, Gord (Rosey) Martin, and Marilyn (Joe) Van Aert; 13 grandchildren, Heather (Derek) Clarke, John (Angie) de Boer, Tim (Morgan) Veitch, Chris (Luanne) Martin, Stacey (Greg) Zahayko, Michelle (Justin) Martin, Daniel (Jemma) Martin, Kimberly (Mark) Martin-Sage, Drew Martin, Lindsay (Lane) Kirkwood, Kathryn (Cody) Waterman, Kristyn (Greg) Westdal, and Karlee (Jordan) Van Aert; 19 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Lois Martin; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins
Cremation has taken place. At Mom’s request, there will be no formal service.
Donations can be made in Roberta’s memory to the Selkirk and District Community Foundation, Christ Church, Selkirk, or charity of your choice.
We would like to thank the staff at Red River Place, especially Reena, for their care and compassion.
We are grateful for the gift of having our mom. She will always be loved, remembered, cherished, and never forgotten.
Rest in peace, Mom. Thank you for everything. We will love you forever.
