JOHN DYCK

With sadness we announce the passing of John Dyck into his eternal rest on Monday, August 3, 2026.

To mourn his passing, he leaves his wife and companion of 75 years, Ellie (Buhler) Dyck; his children, Ronald and Walter Stewart, Ruth and Larry Ens, Lillian, Leonard and Judy Russell, Anthony and Maureen Ammeter, and Elvera and David Stoesz; his grandchildren, Stephen and Leigh Ens, Laurena Ens, Kezia and Kyle, Hannah and Kyle Booy, Beatrice and Travis Proteau; his great-grandchildren, Peyton Ens, Sydney Ens, Kennedy, Josephine Booy, Juniper Booy, Luna Proteau.

John was born on November 25, 1928, and grew up on a farm in the Lena community of southwestern Manitoba. In 1949 he entered into a 35-year career in education, serving as teacher, principal and ending as administrator in Manitoba Education. In 1986 he took early retirement, and became engaged in church-related voluntary service, writings, travels and recreational pursuits – always with Ellie at his side.

Family relationships and events were special for him, and he enjoyed participating in the organizational aspects. Involvement in church life was also important to him, and he attempted to live faithfully, relying on the grace of his Saviour Jesus Christ.

A funeral service for John will be celebrated at Sargent Avenue Mennonite Church, 926 Garfield Street, Winnipeg, on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 11:00 am with viewing at 10:30 am. Reception to follow service. Interment at Sargent Avenue Mennonite Church Cemetery in Springstein.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to Mennonite Central Committee for refugee services will be appreciated.
