MARC JOSEPH EUGENE DROUIN

August 27, 1946 - July 18, 2026

With deep sadness, we share the passing of Marc Joseph Eugene Drouin on July 18, 2026. Born on August 27, 1946, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He will be dearly missed as a partner, father, grand-père, brother, and friend.

Marc earned a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Manitoba in 1969 and then built his career at Manitoba Hydro as a hydrometric engineer. While he worked on many projects, his greatest achievement was developing Manitoba Hydro’s hydrometric data collection system. He had a natural problem-solving mind and took joy in tackling challenges at work, in his workshop, and in daily life. Photography was a longtime passion he shared with his wife, Barbara, and he won many prizes through the Manitoba Camera Club. After his children were grown, he and Barbara spent many happy hours sailing locally and abroad with friends.

Marc is survived by his partner, Christiane Methot; son Gerry and wife Erica; grandchildren, Chloe and Dani; son-in-law Darren and grandchildren, Sophie and Maya; siblings, Paul and his wife Lori, Suzanne and her husband Ken, and Julie and her husband Merv; and by Kit and his wife, Leann. He was predeceased by his wife Barbara, daughter Nikki, sister Madeleine, and his parents, Ernest and Therese.

He and his family were united by what mattered most: kindness, integrity, service, and care for others.

Marc was direct, candid, and loved a good debate. He was gentle, patient, practical, reliable, and deeply motivated. A natural conversationalist, he connected easily with people and gave freely without expecting anything in return. He was passionate about working with his hands and took great pride in building things in the real world. He loved being a grandfather, affectionately known to his grandchildren as grand-père, and supported their care and schooling.

A service will be held August 15 at 10:00 am. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home in Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
