It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jan C. (Kees) Plaizier on August 2, 2026, at the age of 66, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, after a courageous battle with glioblastoma.
Kees was a devoted husband, loving father, respected professor, and loyal friend. He will be remembered for his kindness, compassion, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to his family, students, colleagues, and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kees Plaizier Memorial Scholarship at the University of Manitoba to support graduate students in animal science.
