The family of Adolf Karl Ridinger announces his peaceful passing on Wednesday July 29, 2026, in Winnipeg, at the age of 90, with family by his side.
Born in Heidelberg, Germany, Adolf immigrated to Canada in his early 20s, building a full life in Winnipeg as a body man and later as a long-haul truck driver. He was proud to be the original owner of his home on Ascot Bay in Charleswood. Married for nearly 70 years to his beloved wife Brigitte, they shared an enduring love and a passion for square dancing with the Whirlaway Westerners, spinning across dance floors from Texas to Winnipeg.
An avid golfer who cherished early morning tee times, Adolf also loved daily walks, hunting, brewing beer and wine, and sharing stories of German history. Above all, he was deeply devoted to family and always there when needed.
Adolf is now reunited with his son, Michael, who had a tragic and early passing from cancer. He is lovingly survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Brigitte; his daughter, Vera (Alan); his grandchildren, Samantha (Scott), Jonathan (Victoria), and Suzanne (Jason); and his six great-grandchildren: Ayvah, Lily, Skyler, William, Zoey, and Kyra.
A service will be held on Thursday August 13 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (4000 Portage Ave) with reception to follow.
As we celebrate his life, Adolf would want us all to keep dancing and smiling. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
