Kathleen Veronica Parums, born in Cheltenham, England on July 10, 1942, passed away on July 19, 2026, in Winnipeg.
Kathleen spent her childhood in various parts of England, and later in Wales. She immigrated to Canada in April of 1976 where she lived in Vancouver for eight years. In 1979, she became a Canadian citizen.
At fifteen years old, she began her career in the hairdressing industry that would last fifty years. She worked in salons, participated in competitions, owned her own salon and eventually became a Vocational Teacher. She also became a Master Judge in various hair competitions. She won a Lifetime Achievement award for her dedication to the profession.
Kathleen moved to Thompson, Manitoba in 1984 and taught Cosmetology at R.D. Parker Collegiate until she retired in 2007.
Kathleen was the most amazing friend, teacher, and colleague. She was an active volunteer and charitable community member. She shared her bright light with anyone who had the pleasure of calling her a friend. Kathleen leaves behind many friends who will miss her dearly.
A service and reception will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12 at Glen Eden Funeral Home & Cemetery. Colourful floral tributes are welcomed to the funeral home.
