It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Angela Dawn Peeler (Wallis) on August 4, 2026. Angie’s final days were spent surrounded by her close family and loving friends after a brief yet courageous battle with cancer. She is mourned by her dedicated and loving husband, Jason, and their two wonderful daughters, Madison and Lauryn - who will forever cherish her memory.
Angie was born and raised in Winnipeg, growing up in the neighbourhood of Transcona. She attended Margaret Underhill and Arthur Day schools and graduated from Murdoch Mackay Collegiate in 1986. Her fondest childhood memories involved skating on the outdoor rinks of the Oxford Heights Community Club and hanging out with her lifelong best friend, Michelle, on Huntington Drive. She enjoyed playing softball and excelled at ringette - representing Manitoba as a member of the Transcona Tempos organization at two national ringette championships. Angie was always a very gifted and conscientious student who loved learning and excelled at math and algebra.
After graduating high school, she attended the University of Manitoba, and it was here that she met her dear friend Angie Spearing - with whom she shared a special bond throughout their adult lives. Angie graduated from the Asper School of Business in 1991, with a double major in accounting and marketing. She was the first member of her family to attain a university degree and always pointed to this accomplishment as helping to set the trajectory for her adult life.
Angie and her husband, Jason, began their life together in the spring of 1992, moving to Saskatoon shortly thereafter for Jay’s work. Their early years building a life together were challenging, as both worked to start their careers, establish new friend groups, and understand each other’s wants and needs. Angie was passionate about building a warm and welcoming home, spending countless hours picking paint colours, decorating, and accessorizing their home with her unique touches.
The couple returned to Winnipeg for a Christmas wedding and were married on December 23, 1995. Shortly after, they built their first home in Saskatoon. These formative years in Saskatoon were filled with a growing love and commitment to each other, and the realization that they could always depend on one another - believing that “together they could get through anything”.
In 1997, Angie and Jay moved back to Winnipeg and bought their house on Marwood Crescent. This home is where they would raise their family over the next 25+ years and was a sanctuary for them and their loved ones. They renovated the house piece by piece to make it their own. Angie especially took pride in the upkeep and appearance of their yards and flower beds. The Peelers’ home on Marwood holds so many fond memories, from their daughters’ first steps to their high school graduations. Their home on Marwood was made complete by their loyal family dogs - Tuk, Buster, Leo, and Scout.
Shortly after moving back to Winnipeg, Angie began to work at Holy Family Home (HFH), one of the largest personal care homes in the city. Angie worked at HFH for the rest of her life, finishing as CEO. She truly embodied the mantra “To Serve is to Love”. Her work was not just a job but a calling. No task was too small or unimportant for her to take on; she approached challenges with out-of-the-box thinking and an abundance of creativity. She was determined to improve the lives of the residents, along with all the staff who made HFH a strong and vibrant community.
Angie was a fiercely independent woman who embodied what it means to serve others. She approached life with a strong sense of humility and compassion. She was guided by faith, and her actions were grounded in kindness and respect for others. This was exemplified in her actions as a wife, mother, friend, and coworker.
Jason, Madi, and Lauryn would like to thank Angie’s sister, Jodi, her Uncle Jack and friends Carol, Dulce, Andrea, and Gail for the dedication and friendship they provided Angie, especially in her final days. Your support meant the world to her and us.
The Peelers would also like to extend gratitude and thanks to the 8th floor Palliative Care staff at St Boniface Hospital. Your considerate and compassionate care allowed Angie to live her final days with the same grace and dignity that she extended to others throughout her entire life. We are forever grateful to you for providing Angie with this final gift.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that a donation be made to the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation in Angie’s name. A celebration of Angie’s life will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home & Cemetery on Friday, August 14, at 2:00 pm, followed by time for fellowship with family, friends, and colleagues. All are welcome to attend.
