It is with deep sorrow that we mourn the passing of Jon Michael McGuire, J.D. of Winnipeg, on July 26, 2026.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Irene; his sisters, Roberta, Marilee (Larry) and Kate (Joe); his children, Sean, Patrick (Linds and Ali), Meghan (Darren), Tamatha and Rob (Pat); his grandchildren, Rohan, Cormac, Freya, Marlowe, Daine and Chris (Lindsay); and great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Rory and Piper.
Jon was born in Edmonton but lived in Winnipeg. While he didn't finish high school, in 1967 he started in a mature student program which led to him enrolling at the University of Winnipeg. After the second year he applied to law school, wrote the U.S. LSAT and was accepted.
In Jon’s articling year he worked for the Securities Commission where he stayed until 1976. He then went to the Manitoba Telephone System and worked as a senior corporate counsel until his retirement. In 1972 Jon received his Juris Doctor, an achievement which brought him great pride.
Throughout his life Jon was involved in numerous committees such as the Knights of Columbus, DASCH, Beresford Lake Cottagers Association and many others.
Jon enjoyed life to the fullest, especially his retirement, most of which was spent at Beresford Lake.
We would like to thank the doctors and nurses at St Boniface ER department and the Acute Cardiac Care Unit for the wonderful care they provided to Jon.
