CYNTHIA RENEE JOHNSON
Cynthia Johnson of Winnipeg, MB, beloved wife of the late Paul Johnson, passed away on Friday, August 7, 2026.
She was the cherished daughter of Walter and Evelyne Saiko and sister to Brian (Laura Roberts) and Adele (Bob Taylor).
She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy before attending the University of Moncton. Cynthia impacted many students in her 30-year French Immersion teaching career, primarily at Robert H. Smith School.
Love of music brought Cynthia and Paul together and they married in 1996. They performed in several Gilbert & Sullivan productions and earlier, she was part of the St. John Brebeuf church choir.
Cynthia’s many other favourite things included watching hockey and football, attending Winnipeg Goldeyes games, travelling to warm destinations, playing cards, bingo, and gambling. She volunteered many years at Sir John Franklin Community Club with Mom.
Animals were a central part of her life; and their dogs (Milo, Carmen, Rowdy, Dani) brought her much joy and made her family complete.
Cynthia will be dearly missed by her family, friends and special staff at West Park Manor.
A Memorial Service will take place 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at Bardal Funeral Chapel, 843 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg.
In memory of Cynthia, please consider a donation to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
The family requests that friends visit Cynthia Johnson's tribute wall at www.bardal.ca where condolences, photos and stories may be placed for all to see.
