Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDITH CHECKLEY
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our lovely mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, at Holy Family Home. After marrying Thomas Checkley in 1957, they shared a life devoted to family, raising Brenda, Beverley, and Grant.
Edith was a nurturing caregiver whose life was centered around her family. She showed unconditional love, kindness, and support to her husband and loved ones throughout her life.
Edith was predeceased by her husband, Tom, her son, Grant, and parents, Alfred and Gertrude Pinder. She is survived by daughters, Brenda Andrew and Beverley (Darrell) Arnold; daughter-in-law Mona Checkley; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; brother Bud Pinder and sister Pearl (Doug) Miller, along with several nieces and nephews.
After years of dedicating herself to her family, Edith began a new chapter in 1970, joining Macleods, where she thrived both professionally and personally, making many cherished friendships along the way.
Edith loved dancing, golfing and was an exceptional curler. Edith was an active and dedicated member of her community, generously volunteering her time to organize and serve on the boards of the local golf and curling clubs.
Throughout her life she enjoyed travelling, especially with Tom at Fairmont Hot Springs to partake in golf with friends and family.
Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren will forever cherish the warmth of her home, the smell of freshly baked cookies, and the love she shared so generously.
Sadly, Edith lived with dementia during her final years, a difficult journey for her family and friends to witness. Despite these challenges, her smile and spirited nature continued to shine through.
Edith was a truly special person and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
We would like to thank the staff at Holy Family Home - St. Nicholas Unit, for their exceptional care and compassion during her stay.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Edith's memory to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
