It is with great sorrow that the family of Eldon Eric Hemminger announces that he passed away peacefully at home on August 6, 2026.
Eldon was born on January 31, 1963, in Winnipeg, the city he called home for most of his life. He graduated from John Taylor Collegiate in 1981. Eldon completed a diploma in Forestry at Lakeland College in Alberta followed by a Computer Science diploma at Red River Community College. He spent most of his career working as a computer system developer with Manitoba Hydro.
Eldon is missed deeply by his wife, Jill Moats; his mother, Wanda Hemminger; his sister, Connie Nixon; his two nieces, Erica Nixon (Graeme Wilson) and Marina Ferley (Dean Ferley) and their kids Cole and Jade; Jill’s children, Andrew Klowak and Sandra Klowak (Joseph Kornelsen) and their kids - his beloved grandchildren - Mary and Ben. He is also survived by loving aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Erich Hemminger and his brother-in-law, Stuart Nixon. Eldon’s family and those who knew him will forever cherish the memories of his kind heart, loving nature, and fun spirit.
Eldon enjoyed spending time in the Whiteshell with his wife Jill and dogs Scamp and Mia. He was an amazing cook and demonstrated his love to others through his wonderful meals. He loved tabletop gaming and enjoyed the friendships he made through his connections with the Advanced Squad Leader games group.
The family would like to express sincere gratitude to all of those who cared for him during his final months.
May Eldon’s memory bring comfort to all who knew him. A Celebration of Life will be held on August 19, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Winnipeg, 603 Wellington Crescent.
