GLADSTONE ROY (SONNY) (BUCHANAN) DAVIDSON

The family of Gladstone Roy "Sonny" (Buchanan) Davidson are saddened to announce his peaceful passing on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Victoria Hospital at the age of 96.

He was born in St. Andrew Parish, Jamaica and immigrated to Manitoba in 1969. He learned at an early age the value of hard work and determination. He worked at many jobs before eventually retiring as a dedicated City of Winnipeg employee. He was a husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to all whose lives he touched. He is now reunited in rest with his beloved wife, Louise, whom the family truly misses and deeply loves.

For many years, he was deeply devoted to the fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous. He lived his life with steady grace and spirituality, guided every single day by his favourite principles: "One Day at a Time" and "Easy Does It".

He was the eldest of 18 children on his father’s side, always willing to be supportive to his siblings. He was also the very last surviving child on his mother’s side. Though he outlived some of his brothers and sisters, his deep love for his whole family never changed.

Gladstone is lovingly remembered by his children: Maxie Davidson (Pauline), Wesley (known as Patrick) Davidson, Sandra Davidson, Jacqueline Goodrich (Monty), Kipling Davidson (Denise), Ava Davidson (Ainsley), and Andrew Davidson (Linda). His legacy lives on through his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also dearly missed by cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A service honouring his life and legacy will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. and viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m. at New Anointing Christian Fellowship, 1425 Manitoba Avenue. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a charity of your choice.

The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to the emergency doctor, urgent care doctor and nursing staff, as well as the regular doctors and nursing team at both Grace Hospital and Victoria Hospital. A special thank you to the doctors and nurses on the fourth floor at Victoria Hospital, including the palliative care team, for their exceptional care, kindness, and compassion.

The family also wishes to acknowledge with sincere appreciation the many expressions of love, kindness, and support shown to them during this time of sorrow. Precious blessings to all!
