ANITA MARIE FLORENCE CORMIER

August 22, 1958 - August 04, 2026

It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Anita Cormier, formerly of La Salle, Manitoba, who passed away of natural causes in her apartment in Winnipeg. Anita is survived by her nine remaining siblings, Irene Olivier, Paulette (Lorne) Schram, Philippe (Gracia), Raymond, Jean (Beverley), Jacqueline McGloin, Gilles, Georges (Judy), Gisèle (Denis) Arseneault, as well as many nephews, nieces, grand and great-grandnephews and nieces. Anita was predeceased by her parents, Germain and Annette (née Dumont), her sister Cécile, her brothers-in-law, Albert Olivier, Patrick McGloin, and sister-in-law Rae Cormier.

Anita grew up on the family farm near La Salle, Manitoba, alongside ten siblings, one younger and nine older. As you can imagine, a lot of activity goes on in a home like this. Anita shied away from the hubbub, preferring the comfort of solitude and peaceful moments such as playing with the kittens.

She attended school in La Salle through grade 6, graduated from St. Norbert Collegiate, and later completed a one year accounting program at Red River Community College.

Throughout her working years, Anita had a number of employers; Codville and Company, Atlas Graham, Canada Revenue Agency, and Sweet Life Family Chiropractic and Wellness Centre, to name a few.

She was a devoted Winnipeg Blue Bombers fan and looked forward to cheering her favourite team on TV each year.

Anita had difficulties getting along with people - siblings, co-workers, and friends, but she valued her time with those she loved and attended family gatherings when possible.

Some of Anita's greatest joys in life were holding newborn babies and socializing with her many nephews and nieces, throughout the years.

Before retiring from Canada Revenue Agency, she became a regular visitor and companion to her sister Cécile at Centre Action Marguerite in St. Boniface. After Cécile's passing, Anita continued her weekly visits volunteering her time to encourage and assist other residents, sharing in activities such as bingo and offering friendship.

A celebration of Anita's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
