Often described as the sweetest person you'd ever meet, Arlene Janice Thompson was the model "TV Mom". June Cleaver, Carol Brady and Shirley Partridge had nothing on her. A tireless cook, baker and homemaker, Arlene never seemed to sit still. If she did, her hands were always busy knitting, crocheting, sewing, creating countless crafts and more. All while raising three boys - no easy feat in itself.
Arlene is survived by her sons and their wives: Tom (Elli), Tim (Sally) and Todd (DeNelle), as well as her cousin Lorna Kram. Arlene was predeceased by Leslie Thompson, her husband of 62 years. They enjoyed many pastimes together, including jive dancing, gardening, berry picking, wine making (and drinking!) and laughter-filled gatherings with neighbours and friends, whether in Winnipeg, at Grand Beach or cross-border shopping in Grand Forks.
In recent years, severe arthritis hindered Arlene's ability to enjoy life's simple pleasures. But not once did she complain. She remained a gentle, positive and thankful soul until the very end. Tim, Sally and Charlie (her beloved grand-dog), are so thankful to have spent so much time with Mom / Mrs. T / Grandma, after moving her to New Brunswick to be near us. And now we all watch the night sky, hoping to catch a glimpse of Arlene and Les dancing amongst the stars.
