Our world changed forever on August 6, 2026, when our beloved Joey was taken from us suddenly and tragically, far too soon, at the age of 36.
Joey’s absence has left a deep and unimaginable void in the hearts of his parents, Denis and Patsy; sister Julie and her fiancé, David Bazin; girlfriend, Heather Walsh; grandparents, Roger and Jeannette Grouette, and Louise Fontaine; aunts and uncles, Nancy (Dan) Moreira, Shelley (Scott) Churchill, Robert (Rachelle) Tessier, and Michel Tessier. He will also be deeply missed by his many cousins, extended family members, co-workers, and the countless friends, both in and out of recovery, whose lives he touched throughout his journey.
Joey was predeceased by his Pépère Paul Tessier; step-grandfather, Gilbert Fontaine; Uncle Marc Tessier; and other loved ones who welcomed him into heaven.
Joey was a compassionate and caring person who dedicated 10 years of his life to serving his community as a primary care paramedic. He later continued his passion for helping others through his work with independent group homes and most recently with Kiikiwaahk, supporting youths facing challenges and helping them find a better path forward.
While our hearts are broken by this devasting loss, we will forever celebrate the incredible person Joey was and cherish the memories, laughter, love, and the times we shared together.
Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever remembered. Forever our Joey.
A Celebration of Life will be held on September 9, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodière Boulevard, Winnipeg, Manitoba. A luncheon will follow the service.
