JACK SINE

It is with deepest sadness that son David announces the passing of his father Jack on Monday, August 8, 2026, at the Misericordia Hospital at the age of 97 years.

Jack was predeceased by his wife Elaine; brothers, Donald and wife Joyce and Jim and wife Susan; brothers-in-law, Reginald Linton and wife Helen and John Albrechtson and wife Joyce.

Besides his son David, Jack is survived by several nieces and nephews in Ontario and British Columbia.

Jack was born in Frankford, Ontario March 7, 1929. After his high school education, he joined the Bank of Toronto (now the TD Bank) in Newmarket, Ontario. In due course, he was transferred to Waterloo, where he met and married Elaine and their son David was born in the Kitchener part of Kitchener Waterloo. He then transferred to London and Kingston Ontario and finally to Winnipeg in January 1961 and enjoyed his 40-year relationship with the Bank.

During these years, Jack was involved in volunteer work on various boards including a retirement home, hospital, church and the Victorian Order of Nurses. He was also a member of the of the Rotary, Kinsman and Lions Clubs.

In his younger years, he enjoyed golfing and skiing.

In 1972, Jack became involved with The Vintage Locomotive Society – operators of the Prairie Dog Central steam train. His childhood interest in trains came from his father who was Station Agent with the CNR. Quite quickly, The Prairie Dog became his main volunteer interest because of its historic value.

During these years, Jack served as President three times over a period of seven years and became a qualified Train Conductor, proudly serving for 18 years. He was proud of the organization and those involved with it, and was, in his mind, the best of all steam railway organizations in North America.

At Jack’s request, cremation has taken place, and a private interment was held.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I am so sorry you have lost your father. I have many fond memories of Jack from church. He seemed to have a twinkle in his eye whether he was teasing me about forgetting to sign a cheque or carrying my infant daughter on icy sidewalks from my car into church. He did a huge amount of work for the church. We have missed him and your mother. - Posted by: Bonnie Berry (Church friend) on: Aug 22, 2026

  • David, so proud to have been an employee at TD, Portage and Kennedy Br. working with your Father. Many enjoyable memories to carry forward.. - Posted by: Bonnie Flockton (former employee with TD Bank) on: Aug 22, 2026
