PATRICIA ANNE SMITH

nee NEVILLE

After a brief illness, our mom Patricia passed away at Grace Hospital on August 15, 2026, with her family by her side.

Patricia was predeceased by her husband Ed Smith, parents Richard and Selma Neville, sister Doreen Parkes (Gord) as well as many extended family members and close friends.

Mom was born in 1939 in Winnipeg and grew up on Rutland Street. She attended Lindwood School and St. James Collegiate where she met her two best lifelong friends Carole and Roberta. Mom always spoke about their friendship growing up and later in life they stayed connected.

In 1959 mom married the love of her life, our dad Ed Smith, and began creating their life on Parkview Street. In 1965 they bought their brand-new dream home on Doran Bay. The early years mom was always preparing and packing for all our various camping trips, cottage time in Gimli and road trips. Of course, these adventures included our aunts, uncles, cousins, and close family friends.

In 1976 our parents put an inground pool in the backyard and mom had a new role “The Pool Party Planner” which she took very seriously. Mom could always be seen preparing food and creating guest lists for all the pool parties which were attended by family and friends. Later on, the pool parties continued with the arrival of grandchildren and later great-grandchildren. When our dad passed in 2004 mom was devastated and adopted an orange cat from D’Arcy’s Animal Rescue and she said her fur baby brought her great comfort. Although we were all terrified of that cat she loved her very much. Every evening, they could be seen cuddled up in the big green chair watching tv. Mom said she would never leave Doran Bay because of all the memories created in that house and she never did.

She will be lovingly missed by her children, Marlene, Glenn, Craig (Sherisse), grandchildren, Courtney, Andrew (Kathleen), Dillon (Cierra), Jarett, great-grandchildren Ryder and Kayden as well as many extended family and friends.

Special thanks to the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service and to the emergency room staff at Grace Hospital for their care.

The Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2026, 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, WPG MB with reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers please donate to either the Heart and Stroke Foundation or D’Arcy’s Animal Rescue Centre in Patricia’s memory.

Rest in peace mom we know dad has been waiting a long time for you.

Lots of love from your family.
