FAITH CEASER

(nee NIEMAN)

July 1, 1941 – August 19, 2026

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.

Mom passed after her battle with cancer following a three-week stay at Riverview in the Palliative Care Unit.

Mom was born in Humboldt, Saskatchewan, on July 1, 1941, to John and Margaret Nieman. She was the first of five children; then came along Pat, Dick, Jack, and Mary Ellen. She was always very proud of her brothers and baby sister, often saying, “Well, I helped raise them.”

The family lived a happy and prosperous life on the farm in Englefeld, Saskatchewan, where she attended school, graduating in 1959. The following fall, she moved to Saskatoon and attended the University of Saskatchewan. It was also at this time she began dating her best friend, our loving dad, Bob Ceaser.

They were married on March 5, 1966, in Saskatoon, where they continued to work—Mom as a teacher and Dad in the finance department for the Hudson Bay Company. During this time, my big brother Sean was born. After a short stint in Brandon, they moved to their forever home in Winnipeg.

Dad began his 35 year career teaching Business Law and Economics at Red River Community College. Mom was very content to now stay at home and raise her growing family, Shari being born two years after Sean and Cindy four and a half years after that.

We all enjoyed our daily walk home for lunch from Voyager School, with Mom greeting us with a warm, home-cooked meal. Summers were happily spent with day trips to Grand Beach and a barbecue in the evening.

We also looked forward to week-long road trips to visit our family in Saskatchewan. We all enjoyed boating at Waskesiu and Emma Lake with our uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Mom was very proud of her children’s accomplishments in sports, spending many volunteer hours sitting on synchronized swimming and water polo boards. She also spent many hours volunteering her time as the curator for the Aquatic Hall of Fame in Pan Am Pool.

Later on, Mom became a realtor and then a tour guide for a bus touring company, which she really enjoyed, and made many connections along the way.

Mom loved to travel. She went to Europe twice with Cindy, as well as Alaska, Memphis, New Orleans, and Las Vegas many times.

One of her greatest joys in life was time spent with her grandchildren: Stephan, Luc, Raelle, Darius, and Kydyn. She spent countless hours playing games, building things, reading to them, and taking them to the park.

One thing mom prided herself on was always looking presentable. She wore beautiful clothes and kept her hair and makeup perfectly done until the very end. As our dear friend would say, “She was always runway ready."

Mom was predeceased by her husband, Bob Ceaser, her parents, John and Margaret Nieman; her two brothers, Pat and Dick Nieman; her brother-in-law, Ian Buckwold; and her two sons-in-law, Gerry Laurin and Paul LaFrance.

We like to think that mom and dad are now holding hands together once again as they always did.

We will continue to celebrate her birthdays and talk about our memories for many, many more years to come.

We miss her already.

We’d like to thank the staff on 3 East Palliative Care Unit for their compassion and care of our mother.
