Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRICHARD ARTHUR SINGBEIL
After many years of ill health, Rick Singbeil passed away at Grace Hospital at the age of 73 years on August 19, 2026.
Rick is survived by Anne, his loving wife of 50 years, his sister Linda, sister-in-law Janet Young (Don), a niece and numerous nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Art and Chris Singbeil, nephew Steven Penner, and cherished aunt Evelyn Pestrak.
Rick was born in Winnipeg and lived his whole life in St. James. He began his trade apprenticeship in steamfitting in 1972 and received his certification as a Journeyman Steamfitter in 1977. He worked in many places in Winnipeg, around Manitoba and even in NWT, installing or renovating heating systems in schools, hospitals and on other building projects. Rick always took pride and satisfaction from a job well done. Notably he was recommended and asked for by name to repair the Prairie Dog Central old steam engine. Rick especially enjoyed his last years before retirement working for Randall Plumbing and Heating.
Rick was an adept handyman and along with his Dad and a few other relatives, built his and Anne’s marital home. In the early 80s Rick became a home computer enthusiast and made numerous friends who shared that interest. Before Rick experienced health problems, he and Anne enjoyed car journeys to many places in Canada and the US.
As a friend said on hearing of Rick’s passing: "Oh but what a character Rick was; we could always count on him to stir the pot and get the conversation started!"
Thank you to the care home staff at Extendicare Oakview Place and Golden West Centennial Lodge; and to third floor staff at Grace Hospital.
In keeping with Rick’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no funeral service will be held. A gathering for family and friends is anticipated at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Diabetes Canada.
