Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELAINE HARRIETT GARYCHUK
It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Elaine Garychuk (nee Ranson) at the age of 90.
Mom was born in Swan River on August 19, 1936, the only child of Arthur Ranson and Alta (McLeod).
Mom married William (Bill) Garychuk in Portage-la-Prairie on June 30, 1956, and they spent 37 wonderful years together.
She is survived by her son Gregg and wife Pam, grandson Justin and Serenah, great-grandchildren, Mia and Nate, and grandson James and wife Gabby, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents and husband Bill Garychuk.
Mom's life was devoted to family, friends and education. She graduated from Normal School in 1955, and her teaching career began. She taught in many schools throughout her career until her retirement in 1991. Mom also went back to school at gained her B.A in '74 and B.Ed. in '79. She was very proud that she was able to serve as President of the T.S.T.A from 79-81 and 85-86.
Mom loved being at the cottage at Lake Manitoba Narrows, which she and dad lovingly worked on to make it the family cottage it is today. Mom loved being there with her flowers and gardens, listening to the birds and having the grandkids come out to stay with her for some lake/cottage time.
Mom and dad discovered Palm Springs together, and she said how wonderful and how lucky she was to be able to go every winter for 30 plus years. Palm Springs was enjoyable for her not only due to the weather but also the lifelong friends she made but also when Gregg, Pam and her grandsons came for holidays. Many memories were made California road trips and of course, Disneyland and Legoland.
Mom's body may have told it was okay to rest now, but her mind was thankfully sharp until the day she passed. She could recount stories, events and family history, which was always a joy for her to be able to share these memories with all of us.
Mom had a wonderful life and everyone that knew her knows that she will be missed.
Please join us at Kildonan Community Church, 2373 Main Street, Winnipeg at 1:00 p.m. Cremation has taken place and internment will take place at later date.
In lieu of flowers, Mom would like you to, please make a donation to the charity of your choice in her honour.
