SAMUEL (SAM) ERNEST HOFER

April 15, 1954 - August 25, 2026

It is with utmost sadness that we regret to announce the sudden passing of our brother, uncle, cousin and friend and an amazing man.

Sam was born on a farm near Arden, MB. He leaves behind a large extended family.

Sam was predeceased by his parents Samuel and Emma Hofer and sister Lynda.

He leaves behind six siblings, Brother: Richard (Edna) Holly (Ryan) and Kira, Allary (Allyn) and

Isabella, Chelsea (Christopher); Doreen (Garry) Wade (Molly) Bobby, Tommy, Derek (Kelsey) Hank and Earl; Phillip, (Christopher) (Sylvia and Scarlett); Lynda (Predeceased) Joe, Jason (Milo); Ben, (Charlotte, Stella, Declan, Eve); Mark (Sabrina) Natasha, Malachi; Edna (Geoff).

Sam was the epitome of a social butterfly. He loved his family and friends. He travelled for miles and miles just to visit his aunts, uncles and cousins at the Hutterite Colonies.

He loved to come back with food and goodies to share with us all. He was a very generous man.

He enjoyed driving his Hemi-orange Dodge Challenger which was always spotless.

His life as a carpenter took him and his brothers to Vancouver and Whistler, B.C. for many years from 1989-2005.

He continued his career as a carpenter back home in Winnipeg, MB. till his retirement a few years ago.

Sam adored his nephews and nieces and their children. He loved children in general, whether they were the neighbours or his own family.

We will miss him so much. Rest in peace, Sam. You will never be forgotten.

Love your family

Service of Remembrance will be held Friday, September 4, 2026, at Grace Communion Church, 50 Barnes Street, Winnipeg, MB at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Headingley, Manitoba along side

his parents.

Arrangements in care of Wojcik’s.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • In 1981 Sam & his brother Rick built our house in Charleswood. Sam was a very dedicated carpenter. He was always concerned that the job be done correctly. Today our house is an example of Sam's dedication. - Posted by: RON MACKENZIE (Admirer) on: Aug 29, 2026
