It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Louise Carmen "Lou" Palmer (née Lauzon), who passed away peacefully on August 12, 2026, in St. Albert, Alberta, at the age of 79. Born in Ottawa, Ontario, on October 14, 1946, Lou lived a life centered around family, laughter, and connection. She was predeceased by her husband, Bob Palmer, in 2019, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, travel, and companionship. Lou will be lovingly remembered by her son, Kevin Palmer, his wife Patricia, and their children, Anna and Andrew; and by her daughter, Angele Close, her husband Ryan, and their children, Dublin, Dahlia, and Sonny. She is also survived by her sisters, Diane Sayre and Helene Smith. Lou is predeceased by her mother Carmen Lauzon and brother Pierre "Pete" Lauzon.
Lou was a social butterfly who came alive in the company of others. She loved a good party, dancing, shopping, dining and travel, and rarely passed up an opportunity to gather with family or friends. Lou had a quick wit, a feisty spirit, and a wonderful ability to laugh at herself. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her. Donations may be made in Louise's memory to Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières, or to your local women's shelter or food bank.
