JULIUS STEVE KAZINA

May 31, 1920 - September 3, 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Julius Kazina at the age of 106. Julius is survived by his wife of 77 years Irene; son Michael (Sheryl); granddaughters, Deanna (James) and Laura. Great-grandchildren, Caleb, Abigail, Penny, and Daily; extended family, Dylan, Shayla, and Jaxton; sister Helen; brother-in-law Norman (Beverley); as well as many, many special nieces and nephews.

Julius was predeceased by his parents, Dymtro and Eva; five brothers; and six sisters.

Julius was born on May 31, 1920, in Tyndall, MB. He attended Tyndall School and his early years were spent on the family farm nearby. Julius had a long and rewarding career with Bird Construction. His career started in 1946 and continued for over 40 years. Julius’s career grew from a carpenter to a superintendent to conclude as a general superintendent. He was very passionate about his work and appreciated all the challenges it had to offer. He especially valued the people he worked with and the friendships he developed over the years; many of those friendships still exist till this day.

In 1947, Julius met the love of his life, Irene. They were married in 1949 and made their home together in Winnipeg. In 1961, they started their family when their son Michael was born.

Throughout the years, Julius’s work had taken them to various locations in Manitoba, Edmonton, Vancouver, and back to Winnipeg where he retired in 1987.

Julius was a man of many talents and had many hobbies which always kept him busy. He was always building something, he enjoyed gardening (he could grow anything) and playing cards. In his retirement his focus was his family and friends. He especially liked to spend time at the cottage with the grandchildren in Pinawa Bay. He was a family man, with great wisdom to share with the ones around him.

Julius has filled our hearts and lives with warmth, strength, grace, and wisdom. His kindness touched everyone that he ever met. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

The family would like to give special thanks to the kind and wonderful staff at the Kildonan Personal Care Home where Julius spent the past year and a half, and all the home care workers that provided care for Julius.

Funeral service will be held for Julius at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, with interment to follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Tyndall, MB.

Forever loved, forever missed, forever in our hearts.
