It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Marion Fidler, aged 96, at Victoria General Hospital in Winnipeg, MB on September 2, 2026.
She was born on May 27, 1930 in Miami, MB. The daughter of James and Joan Blair.
Marion attended business school in Winnipeg, she was a secretary for over 50 years, retiring in 1991.
In addition to her parents, Marion was predeceased in death by her husband of 41 years, George Fidler, also by her son Donald Halfyard and granddaughter Meghan Halfyard.
Marion is survived by her daughter Shannon McRae, son Kelly Halfyard (Joanne), daughter Regan Halfyard, grandsons, Jason McRae (Linda), John Halfyard (Tiffany) and James Halfyard, and the joy of her life her great-grandchildren, Jack and Violet Bloomfield, Alex Swain, James Hewat, Briar Tabinski and Ellie Halfyard.
Marion’s presence will be sorely missed. We let go of a remarkable woman, a loving mother, and a doting grandmother, great-grandmother, and a kind soul. As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the love, joy, kindness and generosity that were the essence of Marion’s being.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Victoria Hospital for their kind care in Marion’s final days. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Siloam Mission, 300 Princess Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3B 1M3, in Marion’s honor. No formal service will be held, and cremation has taken place as per Marion’s wishes.
