Valerie Cowieson passed away on August 18, 2026.
Valerie will be deeply missed by her children, Jim (Misty) Cowieson and Heather (Ian) Cowieson Johnson; grandchildren, Tyler (Katie) Firth, Jason Cowieson and Connor (Maddy) Johnson; great-grandchildren, Sebastian and Scarlett; and her extended family and many friends.
Valerie met the love of her life, Raymond, while they were both working at Canada Safeway. Upon seeing her, Ray told a coworker, "I'm going to marry her." He did, on July 28, 1962, beginning 38 years together before his passing.
Valerie spent 45 years with Canada Safeway, where she was a head cashier. She will be remembered for her love of family, her wonderful cooking and baking, and by the many people who knew her simply as "Auntie" "Mum" or "Mrs. C."
A celebration of Valerie's life will be held Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., at St. Andrew's Woodhaven Anglican Church in Winnipeg, MB.
