ANASTASIA (NELLIE) MUZYKA

It is with love and sadness that we announce the passing of Anastasia (Nellie) Muzyka on September 4, 2026, at the age of 98.

Nellie was the beloved daughter of Stella and Harry Muzyka. Over her 98 years, she witnessed her family grow through several generations and took pride in their accomplishments.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. Nellie is survived by her children: Diana Blishen of Errington, B.C. (husband Phil, predeceased); Cheryl (Sherry) Babin and husband Gerry of Sudbury, Ontario; and Wendy Faddis and husband George of Duncan, B.C. She was predeceased by her daughter, Charlene Brezden, formerly of Sudbury, Ontario.

Nellie was a loving Baba to her grandchildren, Jody Faddis, Christine Corporon, Jeff Babin, and Bruno Lalonde; and a proud Babka to 10 great-grandchildren.

She was also a cherished sister to Andrew Muzyka (predeceased), whose wife, Louise, survives; and to Tillie Prinoski and husband Henry; Nicholas Muzyka and wife Stella; Lena Janoski and husband Paul; Annie Sliworsky and husband Walter; Olga Cereda and husband Andy; and Pete Muzyka and wife Annie, all predeceased.

Our family extends heartfelt thanks to the Island Health home care team for their compassionate support, which helped Nellie remain in her own apartment and maintain her independence for so many years. We are also grateful to the caring staff at Royal Jubilee Hospital for their kindness and comfort during her final days.

A very special thank you goes to Dr. Christopher Galanos and his wonderful staff, Natasha, Megan, Carly, Kenzie, Clara, and Camo the cat, whom Nellie adored. Dr. Galanos cared for Nellie throughout her later years with remarkable kindness, devotion, and personalized attention. His compassionate care, and the warmth of his entire team, brought her great comfort and meant more to her than words can express.

Nellie will be remembered for her remarkable resilience and determination. She valued her independence and was grateful for the support that helped her maintain it. Her strength of character and enduring spirit will be remembered with affection by all who knew her. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered always.
