JAMES PETER BEEKENKAMP

With sadness, I announce the passing of my husband Jim on September 8, 2026. Jim was born and raised on River Road in St. Andrews.

Big Dutch had many stories of his upbringing and cherished his regular drives past the old homestead. After moving into Winnipeg new adventures and long-lasting friendships were quickly formed. After joining the Winnipeg Fire Dept. Jim found his calling for life - serving the citizens for 36 years. Appreciative, proud and protective of his crews, they in turn respected him for his work ethic and knowledge. Waterfights, pranks and marvellous food were savoured memories. After retirement, Beeks continued to enjoy his time on LOTW. At Bigstone he worked tirelessly alongside many friends to establish a camp, not only we, but future generations would love and enjoy.

Jim often held court supervising from the deck - with a rum or beer in hand. He loved the many special people who always found time to stop by and share their latest adventures or big fish stories. Jim's firm handshakes and genuine hugs will certainly be missed by many. At Jim's specific request, no service will be held.
