Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • Tom and I worked at Ken Seaford Junior High. I admired Tom's upbeat and compassionate demeanor. We shared laughs together with his students when talking about our belief that process is paramount. This is only one example of Tom's humble expressing of deep thoughtfulness in a casual jocular manner. Tom's life of giving is most worthy of celebration. - Posted by: garrett loeppky (colleague) on: Oct 01, 2026

  • Saddened to hear the news of Tom's passing. I never had the chance to work directly with Tom, but I remember Tom as a fun welcoming "colleague". As a new teacher in the early 2000's, Tom was always engaging and encouraging. Though our experience together was short, his impression was lasting. Tom will be missed. All my best to his family. - Posted by: Rick Farmer (Colleague) on: Sep 17, 2026

  • He was always Uncle Tom to me. He said yes to being my godfather and I am forever grateful for the times at the cabin, the conversations at his kitchen table and being able to call him family. He housed me when I needed a place, and provided advice I will take with me. You were a kind soul Uncle Tom and will be missed by so many. <3 - Posted by: Victoria Miles (Goddaughter) on: Sep 15, 2026

  • While working together at Elwick School in the early 1980's we came to know Tom as an innovative, sensitive and steady professional. Seven of us (maybe 6) formed the social group called "Odd Boys" and met together for some 35 years at the lake or in the city to laugh at ourselves and to update each other on our interactions with former students and teachers. The curling, education and Lac Lu communities will miss his considerable contributions, his welcoming approach to people and his steadfast ethical gift of personality. - Posted by: Donald Mandryk (colleague) on: Sep 12, 2026

  • Mr. Clasper was my math teacher during the 90s at Ken Seaford. I remember him to be a very caring teacher to his students and colleagues. He was one of a few teachers that I really appreciated. He will be greatly missed! My condolences go out to all his family and friends.. - Posted by: Bobby A (Former Student) on: Sep 12, 2026

  • The Mowat family, my father Alex, all were close friends with Tom. He was one of Canada's top junior curling coaches, leading young adults to national championships. Dad and Tom were two of a few curlers who met weekly for lunch to chat and stay close, year round. Tom will be remembered greatly in the communities he participated in as a leader and mentor. His positivity and outlook will be remembered by many. - Posted by: Heather Mowat (friend) on: Sep 12, 2026

  • "We are deeply sorry for your and our loss. Tom was a truly great guy who dedicated his life to helping others, both as a compassionate guidance counsellor, a dedicated curling coach and as a warm, welcoming human being. Tom had a profound impact on so many lives, speaking to people anywhere he came in contact with. His kindness, wisdom, and warm spirit will never be forgotten. Tom was a remarkable guy who left the world a better place. He will be dearly missed. Stephen & Angela - Posted by: Stephen (Bubnowicz) on: Sep 12, 2026
