TERRANCE (TERRY) PATRICK GROGAN
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Terrance (Terry) Patrick Grogan. Terry was born in Toronto, Ontario, the youngest of six.
Terry was a dedicated, loving father, grandfather and husband, a kind, generous friend and an enthusiastically loyal brother in arms. Joining the military at 18 years of age Terry served with the Second Battalion Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry in postings to Winnipeg, Germany amd Kingston, ON from 1981 – 2001.
In 2001 Terry moved from Infantry to the RCAF as a Traffic Tech. After completing his training in 2002, the family was posted back to Winnipeg. Terry was with 17 Wing Winnipeg until his retirement in 2014.
Terry’s career with the Canadian Armed Forces took him all over the world as highlighted on the map he proudly displayed in his home along with a myriad of awards and distinctions.
As a young private in Winnipeg, Terry met the love of his life Karen Beatty. Karen and Terry would go on to marry, relocate to many postings and celebrate the birth of their son John and much more recently the birth of John’s sons.
An avid gardener and celebrated chef to his family and friends, a dinner invitation to the Grogan’ s was always coveted and never a disappointment!
Terry possessed a quick wit, a robust sense of humour and a fierce loyalty to those he loved.
Left to mourn his passing is Karen his wife of 41 years, son John, daughter-in-law Julie Gervais and the lightness of his heart his grandsons, Luke and Max and his feline companion, Patch. Terry will be remembered fondly by family, many friends and dozens of his VP brothers.
Terry‘s family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at CancerCare Manitoba, Grace Hospital and his fellow Patricias who remained vigilant and supportive throughout his journey.
Terry waged his battle with courage and grace; we can all take comfort in knowing he is at well deserved rest. He will be dearly missed.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Terry’s memory to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation.
