It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gail Saunders (nee Scheel), our dear wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, on September 10, 2026 at the age of 86 years old.
She leaves her husband Mel; her children, Karen (Richard) and Todd; grandchild Dylan (Avery); as well as two great-grandchildren, Emerson and Maddux and brother John (Linda) and many nieces, nephews and friends
Gail was born on April 25, 1940 in Winnipeg to John and Dorothy Scheel. Gail enjoyed canning, needlepoint, crocheting and painting. She loved gardening and received the best yard honour one year for her beautiful garden in Lac Du Bonnet.
Gail especially enjoyed traveling, winters in Leesburg, Florida and summers at their cottage at Lester Beach. She also enjoyed going on cruises out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Gail was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease and was subsequently moved to a care home. She often praised the staff on how good they were to her and we would like to express gratitude to the staff at Middle Church Home of Winnipeg.

A celebration of Gail's life will be held on September 22, 2026 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #215, Basement Hall, located at 215 Maxwell King Drive, East Saint Paul at 1:00 pm.
