Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • As his younger sister, Mike has always been part of my life. He was always the “big brother” that I looked up to with pride. He had a quiet and positive energy and a great ability to appreciate what life brought along from day to day. When Mike and Jan met, fell in love and married, we were all so pleased and proud to welcome Jan to our family here in Australia. Their visits to their Australian home were always looked forward to and enjoyed by all. They have always been such a wonderful team together. We will remember Mike with love and great pride for the unique and treasured person that he was. We will miss you always Mike. Love from Marie (Mike’s sister in Australia) and Alan Cherry. - Posted by: Marie Cherry (Sister) on: Oct 02, 2026

  • Vale Mike, our adventurous, loving and forever-loved uncle. I will always remember Mike for his warm and calming presence throughout my life. As a child, I had no idea how lucky we were to have so many lovely memories with family from the other side of the world. Mike's dedication to visiting and being with his loved ones was very special. I will remember Mike through the many shared bushwalks of my childhood (as well as a particularly memorable kayak through Tallowah Dam) and later on, thoughtful catch-ups over Lithgow afternoon teas and Sydney visits. One cannot talk about Mike without also talking about Jan. Together they made - and make - the most perfect example of a loving and adventurous partnership. Without Mike, we would not have the blessing of Jan in our lives - another great reason to send him thanks. Mike will never be forgotten by the people who love him and who were so loved and supported by him. Rest in peace. - Posted by: Alexis Weaver (Mike's niece in Australia) on: Sep 20, 2026

  • Mike was always a well-loved and generous older brother and family member who had lots of adventures, but he needed someone special to share it all with. That all changed when he met you Jan. With you in Canada, he found the partner he had always been looking for and also found a loving group of in-laws and community, and adventures he could share with someone. We are all forever grateful over here, that he found his Happily Ever After with you in Canada. Good journeys Mike, its been a Priviledge to be your brother Love to all from Tony and Sue - Posted by: Tony (Weaver) on: Sep 20, 2026
