DOREEN CRANWILL

(nee ALDRIDGE)

July 15, 1929 - September 4, 2026

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother, Doreen Cranwill, at the age of 97.

Doreen was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Martha Aldridge; brother, Sergeant Thomas Aldridge, who died while serving overseas with the Canadian Air Force in 1943; sister, Patricia Lumsden (1995); beloved husband, Harry (2000); brother-in-law, Archie Lumsden; and brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Irene Cranwill.

She will be deeply missed by her children, Richard (Barb); Karen (Gordon); grandchildren, Ryan (Aly), Allison, Christine, Mitchell, Cole (Cassidy), Bruce (Brittany) and Courtney (Coulter); great-grandchildren, Lyla, Laura and Jackson; nephews Tom, George, Brent and Dean, along with their families.

Born in Winnipeg, Doreen spent her life there. She attended Earl Grey and Kelvin High Schools, followed by Success Business College, where she graduated with honors. She went on to work as an administrative secretary, holding several progressively responsible positions in the insurance business, at Century Oils and with the Royal Bank of Canada.

Doreen was a loving and devoted daughter, wife and mother, always ready to help her family. She supported her children in their many activities - including hockey, baton, soccer, piano, swimming and school sports - and rarely missed an event.

In her younger days, Doreen enjoyed time at the racetrack. Throughout her life she also took great pleasure in music, golf, bridge, travel and, most of all, time spent with family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, October 8 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I had the pleasure of doing Doreen's hair for over 25 or more years. I actually worked with her previous stylist. I enjoyed seeing her every Tuesday. She was always so kind and appreciative. She was always positive. I may have made her day, but she definitely made mine. And don't forget the lemon loaf every Christmas. I'll have a pre dinner glass of Gibson's in your memory. Rest easy you beautiful soul. ❤️ - Posted by: Nancy Lecocq (Hairstylist/ friend) on: Oct 05, 2026
