WILLIAM YAWORSKI

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of William "Bill" Yaworski at the age of 93 on September 13, 2026.

Bill grew up on the family homestead in Kirkness, MB. He then built a beautiful life with his wife of 68 years in Winnipeg, MB. Bill was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. He is survived by his wife Irene; his children, Debbie (Brent), Garry (Anita), Alex (Chery), and Amanda (Jay); grandchildren, Kendra (Mike), Brooke (Chris), Tessa (Ryan) Tianna, Mikayla (Brett) and Riley; great-grandchildren, Arden, Owen, Arlo, and Emme; and siblings, Mike Yaworski and Shirley Kowalchuk, sisters-in-law, Shirley Siatecki and Sandy Skelton, along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Mary Yaworski, along with several other loved ones.

Bill was a soft-spoken yet strong-willed, determined, and hardworking man. He had a lifelong passion for electronic and automotive repair. He started working at Carter Motors as an auto mechanic in 1953 before transitioning to a career in electronics in 1963. He was the proud owner of Columbus Radio for nearly 60 years. Donning his white lab coat, he was referred to as the "Doctor of Electronics" who could repair almost anything. He never truly retired, remaining involved with the business even after his health made it difficult for him to come into work. The electronics community has truly lost a legend. He loved Ukrainian music, and especially enjoyed sharing a non-alcoholic beer with family while cheering on the Winnipeg Jets. He also enjoyed keeping his mind sharp at the blackjack tables.

Bill will be deeply missed by his family, friends, customers, and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

A memorial service will take place at Glen Eden Funeral Chapel, 4477 Main St. on Friday, October 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Canada-Ukraine Foundation or Manitoba Kidney Foundation in Bill's memory.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • It is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to a truly remarkable soul. Although our time together was brief, I will always treasure the moments we shared. You were intelligent, wise, calm, and gentle, with a loving nature that made you special. Your kindness and peaceful attitude were qualities I deeply admired. One thing I will always cherish is how you never forgot my name, Felicia. Such a simple gesture, yet it meant so much to me. You had a special way of making people feel remembered and valued, and that is something I will always hold close to my heart. It was a privilege to have known you, even for a short time. Though you are no longer with us, the beautiful memories you left behind will remain forever. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. May your soul rest in perfect peace. 🕊️❤️ - Posted by: Felicia (Support worker) on: Sep 30, 2026

  • In Loving Memory of Bill It is difficult to say goodbye to someone you had the privilege of caring for and getting to know. Bill was a very special client. He was quiet and kept mostly to himself, but behind that quiet nature was a genuinely kind and gentle man. He was always patient, respectful, and appreciative. He never needed many words to show his kindness his gentle ways spoke for him. As a caregiver, there are some clients you care for, and there are others who quietly leave a place in your heart. Bill was one of those people. I will remember his calm presence, his patience, and the kindness he showed in his own quiet way. Caring for him was more than just a responsibility; it was an experience I will always treasure. It is heartbreaking to know that he is no longer here. But I am grateful for the time I had with him and for the memories that will remain. Rest peacefully, Bill. Thank you for allowing me to be part of your journey. You were truly a kind soul, and you will be missed more than words can say. - Posted by: OLABISI OYEBOGBON OLALEYE (Home care) on: Sep 23, 2026
