NICK (NIKOLA) LEBEDEFF

December 11, 1933 - August 27, 2026

We celebrated our Dad’s last day of his life on Thursday, August 27, 2026 when he took his last breath singing "This Land is Your Land". He passed away peacefully with his family by his side.

People who knew him, know what an incredible, energetic, friendly and kind-hearted giving man he was. He never sat still, was always puttering with something. Always willing to lend a hand or help in any way. He worked until the spry age of 80 with his son Dan operating Lebedeff Plumbing and Heating Ltd. We would call Dad our bionic Man with two hip replacements and two knee replacements.

His 'relaxing' was either dancing with his wife Audrey just shy of 65 years of marriage, five times a week, or he would be working on his lawn, flowers or his Nemesis THE WEEDS. My gosh he tried to get rid of the weeds to the frustration of Mom watching him, but it was so funny, and she let him be.

After Audrey passed away, he eventually went back to dancing as the dance group took him under their wings. He danced until he was 91.

Spending time outside Dad could also be seen talking with someone, a neighbour, someone walking by or just making new acquaintances whenever he was out. Dad made his decision in November of 2025 that he wanted to go on the list for Sturgeon Creek 1 Retirement Residence. He moved in early January 2026. Dad had a hard time adjusting, he was all by himself for the first time in almost 92 years. We say all alone as he found it very lonely in his apartment by himself. Although there’s many residents to socialize and dine with and many activities to take part in and he did try, but it just wasn’t quite the same as his home. His health started to decline in the last year, and his dancing days were gone and he missed our mother.

Our Dad was born on the family farm in La Broquerie, Manitoba to Alex and Anna Lebedeff the youngest of three boys. His father was from Russia and his mother from Poland. Farm life taught them hard work, discipline, the enjoyment of music and learning four languages.

When Dad finished high school, he attended "Normal School" in Winnipeg and taught for a couple of years in the Interlake region. Although this wasn’t the profession Dad would continue for his life. He eventually would meet up with a gentleman looking for journeyman in the plumbing trade.

This would be his lifelong passion. During Dad's teaching years he met our mother in Harperville, Manitoba. A few years later he met her again in Stonewall at the street dance. After that meeting, they went on their first date dancing and never stopped. They are now together once again dancing.

Dad leaves to mourn daughter Kelly and Garry, grandson Nicholas and Gloria, great-grandchildren, Naomi and Landon, grandson Brendan and partner Naiyapak and their baby son coming in October; son Dan and Tracy, granddaughter Megan; daughter Judy, grandsons, Jackson, Jordan, Jakob and girlfriend Ellie; nephew Bob and Andrea. Dad was predeceased by his wife Audrey who passed July 19, 2022.

We would like to thank the health care team that looked after and helped our dad daily.

The staff at Sturgeon Creek 1 who assisted Dad in so many ways, your acts of kindness and inclusion will never be forgotten.

There will be a private family gathering at a later date.
