ALAN INGRAM

December 22, 1929 - September 13, 2026

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Alan Ingram on September 13, 2026, at the age of 96. We are so very sad that he is gone, but we are grateful that he is now at peace.

Dad loved his family more than anything in the world.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Sonja, whom he missed terribly. They were married for over 68 years and shared a wonderful life together.

He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Lori Jackman, and her husband, Garth; their son, Andrew Jackman and his wife, Angelique, and grandchildren, Bella and Sadie; and their daughter, Lindsay Jackman and her partner, Jarrett Barber.

He is also lovingly remembered by his daughter, Alison Malenchak, and her husband, Edwin; their daughter, Aynsley Chomokovski and her husband, Patrick, and grandchildren, Everett and Adelaide.

Dad was predeceased by his parents, Jane and Adam Ingram; his in-laws, Stella and Joseph Chorney; and his siblings, Edward, George, Kenny, Betty, Nessie and Bruce.

He will be greatly missed by his brother, Doug, and his wife, Jean; his sister, Margaret Hughesman; his sister-in-law, Gloria Ingram; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours.

Dad was born in Winnipeg but moved to Ridgeville, Manitoba, at a very young age, where his father was the community blacksmith. The family eventually moved back to Winnipeg, where Dad and his siblings were raised on Government Avenue in Morse Place.

Dad was a well-known athlete and loved hockey, baseball, bowling, golfing and, most of all, curling. The newspapers often referred to him as "Youthful Al Ingram".

He curled with many of the greats in Manitoba during the 1970s and was a proud and well-known member of the West Kildonan Curling Club for many, many years. He served as club president several times and made many lifelong friendships through the sport he loved.

Dad also played third base for the Morse Place Athletics. In 2007, he was proudly inducted into the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame alongside his two brothers, Doug and Kenny.

From an early age, Dad worked in the printing industry. He was a typesetter, working the lead presses for Wallingford Press. When the industry became computerized, Dad moved into the sales department. He enjoyed his work so much that he continued working well into his 70s.

Dad was a friend to all. He seldom forgot a name and always had a story to tell. He was well known for his quick wit and wonderful sense of humour. Dad had a way of making people feel welcome, and he made many lasting friendships throughout his life.

We are thankful to Dr. Lamba, and his nurse Indira for the care and consideration given to our dad over the years.

We are deeply grateful to the staff at Tuxedo Villa Personal Care Home for the extraordinary care, kindness and compassion they gave our father over the past year.

The family would like to invite friends and family to join them for a celebration of his life at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, on Monday, September 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
